The Number of Cases Under the Telecommunications Law
According to the findings of Athan, freedom of expression activist organization by April 3rd, 2019, there are totally 185 formal cases under the Telecommunications Law.
Under the previous government, there were 11 cases under the Telecommunications Law. Under the current government, there were 91 cases before the amendment of the Telecommunications Law and there are 83 cases after the amendment. Among these 83 cases after the amendment, 24 cases are filed by members of parliament and public officials.
There are 23 complaints filed against 31 journalists under the Telecommunications Law.
In addition, there are 9 cases sued directly by military officers and 5 cases by third-party complainants due to criticizing military.
